MONSA® Steareth-2 is a nonionic surfactant used as an emulsifier and detergent, often in cosmetics as an emulsifier to help water and oil-based ingredients mix to form emulsions.

Steareth-2 serves as a versatile component within personal care products, functioning as a nonionic surfactant, wetting agent, solubilizer, conditioner, and coupling agent. It is readily soluble in alcohol and cottonseed oil, yet remains insoluble in water and propylene glycol. This ingredient plays a crucial role in the emulsification process of ceto-stearyl alcohols and the formation of oil-in-water emulsions, even in the presence of up to 25% ethanol or significant electrolyte levels.
